Last post from Japan…

Well, getting to the hotel in Narita was painful, not because of the trip, but by what happened at the station.  In order to kill some time, my brother and I checked our suitcases into a couple of coin lockers at the Tokyo station, and wandered around a bit, then sat and watched people for a bit.  Then we went to get our stuff out of the lockers, and while I was getting mine, my camera slipped out of the locker and hit the floor, breaking the focusing mechanism on my brand new $350 lens.  Needless to say it was a gut-shot, and put a damper on the rest of the trip.  Making the train ride to Narita in the rain didn’t help my mood all that much, either.  It looks like it may be under warranty, so repair may not be too horrendous, they may likely just replace it.  Unfortunately all the warranty information etc. is in my apartment, so I won’t be able to get it fixed until after I get back.  The one bright spot is that it happened at the end of the trip and not the beginning.

It’s now Monday morning here in Narita, and we’ll be checking out of the hotel soon to head for the airport, so this is the last posting I’ll be making until I get back to my apartment Monday night.
